Candles by Lily
Candles by Lily is a company that I created during my class Content Marketing Class at Miami Univeristy. We were assigned to develop a company from the ground up, and go through all the key beginning stages, and then at the end of the semester, develop an elevator pitch. I created three social media accounts, developed a website, and created the actual physical product in which we presented in class.
Candles by Lily is a candle company that specializes in candles that smell like perfumes and colognes. The idea behind the company was to have a candle scent that matches a person/place/ or even feeling. If a loved one passed away, you would be able to order a candle in the scent of their fragrance. An awesome way to feel close to somebody.
My value proposition: I want to help college students and young adults, ages 18-23, who love candles and want to enjoy their favorite scents in their new homes by creating personalized candles and room sprays so that they can experience the fragrances they love in multiple ways and make their living spaces feel more personal and inviting.
What is Candles by Lily?
I ran three different social media accounts for Candles by Lily; Instagram, TikTok, and X. Each post was carefully crafted using keywords and common themes to help build the brand. This was a post I created on Instagram, on how to set the mood for date night.
Social Media Posts
Using SEO I came up with several keywords to use for my blogposts on my company. I researched over 250 words to shorten it to about 5. I created blogposts with real life links, pictures, and genuine writing.

Steps I took:
This project took place over an entire semester where each week we began a different step for our company. The first thing we did was come up with over 100 different ideas to then chose from for our brand. Then we worked with POD suppliers to create the product itself. We created our own logos and websites to help promote the products. We then teamed up as category related groups, and created a podcast. I worked with three other girls and created a podcast called, “ Smells like drama”, where we dove into different topics and related it all back to our companies. Finally, we created elevator pitches that showcased our entire company, from customer portfolios, to the ask at the very end. This class was amazing, and it was very fun to learn about how much goes into creating a company from the ground up.
